Organiser agreement
Last updated 5 September 2026. This agreement is between the organiser and Needs your details — set entity in src/lib/legal.ts ("Tikit", "the Platform"). You accept it when you publish your first event.
1. What Tikit does
Tikit sells tickets to your events on your behalf, collects the money from buyers, issues tickets, provides scanning at the door, and pays you out under the schedule for your tier. Tikit is your agent for the sale, not the promoter of your event.
2. Fees
The first event you publish carries no platform fee at all. On every event after it, the platform fee is 3.5% of the ticket price plus R2.00 per paid ticket. Free tickets carry no fee. You choose, per event, whether the fee is added to the buyer's price or deducted from yours. The fee is earned when the ticket is sold and remains payable if the ticket is later refunded or the event is cancelled.
Where you offer a promo code, the fee is calculated on the discounted price the buyer actually pays; a ticket discounted to nothing is a free ticket and carries no fee. A refund returns the discounted amount paid, not the list price.
3. Verification and payout tiers
Your payout schedule depends on your tier. Tier 1 organisers are paid in full 24 hours after the event ends. Tier 2 organisers, who have passed the verification checks under Verification, receive 30% fourteen days before the event, 20% forty-eight hours before, and the balance 24 hours after it ends. Tier 3 organisers, with five or more completed events on Tier 2, receive 25% when a quarter of ticket holders have scanned in, 25% at half, and the balance when the event ends. Tranche amounts are calculated from net sales at the moment each tranche falls due. Tikit may hold a tranche where it reasonably suspects fraud, and may set your tier by hand.
4. Custody of funds and escrow
4.1 All ticket revenue collected through the Platform is held by Tikit as your agent, in a settlement account separate from Tikit's own money, until it is paid out under clause 3. You acknowledge that ticket revenue is not unconditionally earned income until the event has taken place without cancellation or material alteration.
5. Refunds and the Consumer Protection Act
5.1 In line with sections 17 and 47 of the Consumer Protection Act, 2008, if an event is cancelled, postponed or materially altered, ticket holders are entitled to a refund of the ticket face value. When you cancel an event in the Platform, Tikit refunds every paid order automatically and notifies every buyer.
5.2 You carry the full cost of those refunds and any payment-provider reversal fees. The platform fee on the refunded sales remains payable and is not waived.
5.3 A refund you initiate for a single order is treated the same way.
6. Set-off and DebiCheck recovery
6.1 You grant Tikit the right to set off any amount you owe under this agreement against any current or future ticket revenue across all of your events on the Platform.
6.2 Where an advance has been paid to you and the event is then cancelled, refunded or materially altered, you authorise Tikit to recover the amount disbursed through the DebiCheck mandate registered under Verification against the bank account on file. Tikit uses the mandate for no other purpose.
7. Personal deed of surety
7.1 Where the organiser is a company, close corporation, non-profit company or other juristic entity, the person who signs the deed of surety under Verification warrants that they are a duly authorised director or officer, and binds themselves personally as surety and co-principal debtor, jointly and severally with the entity, for the punctual performance of every refund obligation, chargeback and debt owed to Tikit under this agreement.
7.2 Where the organiser is an individual, signing confirms these obligations are yours personally.
8. Your obligations
- Describe your event accurately and hold it as described.
- Keep your bank details correct. A payout that fails because they are wrong is retried once you fix them.
- Keep door-staff links and PINs to the people working the door, and switch a steward off when they leave.
- You may add people to your team under Team. You remain responsible for everything they do on the Platform, including refunds they issue and the buyer information they see. Remove them when they stop working with you.
- Handle buyers' personal information (name, email, mobile number) only for running the event.
- Do not use the Platform for events that do not exist, for resale, or for anything unlawful.
9. Tikit's obligations
- Issue a valid ticket for every paid order and keep the scanner available for the event.
- Pay out under the schedule for your tier, and show you every rand in and out under Payouts.
- Tell you by email when a payout is sent or fails, and when a verification check completes.
10. Ending this agreement
You may stop using the Platform at any time and delete your account under Settings → Account once every payout owed to or by you is settled. Tikit may suspend an organiser who breaches clause 8; ticket holders of any live event are refunded under clause 5.
