How buying works

Buying

  1. Open an event and choose how many of each ticket you want with the + and buttons. The total, including the Tikit fee if the organiser passes it on, is shown before you continue. A tier marked Choose seats is sold by seat: say how many you want here and pick the seats on the next page.
  2. Choose Continue and give your name, mobile number and email. That's all. No account, no password. If the organiser gave you a promo code, type it under Have a promo code? in the order summary and choose Apply: the discount shows on its own line, the Tikit fee is worked out on the discounted price, and if the code doesn't work the summary says why.
  3. Choose Pay. You pay by card, by a phone wallet like Apple Pay, Google Pay or Samsung Pay, or straight from your bank with Capitec Pay or Instant EFT. Exactly which of these you see depends on the event and your device. Your tickets are held for 15 minutes while you do.

Choosing your seats

For a seated tier the checkout page shows a map of each section, row by row. Tap the seats you want, as many as you chose on the event page: a seat someone else has bought or is paying for right now is greyed out, and one the organiser has kept back is shown as not for sale. Your seats are held for you the moment you choose Pay, for the same 15 minutes as any other ticket, and if someone beats you to a seat in between, checkout says which one so you can pick another. The seat is printed on each ticket, in the email and SMS, and the steward sees it when your QR code is scanned.

Where your tickets go

The moment the payment clears you land on a page showing a QR code per ticket. The same tickets go to your email, and to your phone on WhatsApp and by SMS unless you untick those boxes at checkout. Each QR code admits one person, once. A screenshot works at the door.

Finding them again

Open Find my tickets in the header, type the email you bought with, and type the six-digit code we email you. Every order under that email is listed, upcoming first. On the order page, Send my tickets again re-sends them to your email and phone.

Giving a ticket to someone else

Can't make it? On your order page, choose Pass this ticket on under the ticket and give the person's name, email and, if you like, mobile number. They get their own ticket by email (and on WhatsApp if you gave a number) with their name on it and a new QR code. A seated ticket keeps its seat: the seat goes with the ticket to whoever holds it. Your QR code for that ticket stops working the moment you send it, and this can't be undone, so check the address. The same button is on the ticket's own page, so whoever you give it to can pass it on again.

Whoever holds a ticket's link or QR code holds the ticket, the same way as at the door, so keep yours to yourself. An organiser can switch passing on off for an event, and it stops once the event has started. If the organiser refunds the order or cancels the event, the money goes back to whoever paid, and the ticket stops working wherever it ended up.

Refunds and cancellations

If an organiser cancels an event, everyone who bought a ticket is refunded automatically and gets an email; the tickets stop working at the door. Refunds go back to the way you paid and usually show within three to five working days. The Tikit fee, where you paid it on top, is not refunded. For any other refund, contact the organiser named on the event page.
