Terms
Last updated 5 September 2026. These terms are between you and Needs your details — set entity in src/lib/legal.ts. Organisers also agree to the organiser agreement when they publish an event.
What Tikit is
Tikit is a platform on which organisers sell tickets to their own events and buyers purchase them. The organiser named on an event page runs that event and is your contract partner for it. Tikit sells the ticket on the organiser's behalf, collects the money, and issues the ticket.
Buying a ticket
- Prices are in South African rand. Where the organiser passes the Tikit fee on, it is shown on its own line before you pay.
- Where an organiser gives you a promo code, the discount comes off the ticket price and the Tikit fee, where it is passed on, is worked out on the discounted price. A code can be limited to a tier, a number of tickets or a period, and the organiser can switch it off at any time; an order already paid keeps its discount.
- Tickets are held for 15 minutes while you pay. An order not paid in that time is released and nothing is charged.
- Where a tier is sold by seat, the seats you choose are held with the order and printed on the tickets once paid. A seat is yours only once the order is paid; if someone pays for it first, checkout says so and you choose again. An organiser can keep individual seats off sale.
- Each ticket admits one person once. Anyone presenting a valid ticket QR code will be admitted, so keep it to yourself.
- Tickets are issued to the email and mobile number you give. Getting those right is your responsibility; Find my tickets works with the email you used.
- You can pass a ticket to someone else from your order page or the ticket's own page, unless the organiser has switched that off or the event has started. The ticket is then theirs: their name goes on it, they get their own QR code, the seat (if it has one) goes with it, and yours stops working at the door. This cannot be undone. Anyone holding a ticket link can pass it on, so keep it to yourself. A refund still goes to whoever paid.
Refunds and cancellations
- If an organiser cancels an event, Tikit refunds the ticket face value of every paid order automatically and emails you. Refunds go back to the way you paid.
- The Tikit fee, where it was charged to you on top of the ticket price, is not refunded.
- Any other refund is at the organiser's discretion; contact the organiser named on the event page.
- Nothing here limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2008.
Accounts
- An organiser account needs a working email address and a password of at least 10 characters. A buyer account is created with no password when you use Find my tickets.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account and for any AI assistant you connect to it. You can revoke a connected app at any time under Settings → Connected apps.
- You can delete your account under Settings → Account. Deletion is immediate and permanent.
- Tikit may suspend an account used to sell tickets to events that do not exist, to resell tickets, or to abuse other users.
Content
Event descriptions, cover images and logos belong to the organiser who uploaded them. By uploading them the organiser lets Tikit display them on the event page, in search results and in link previews, and lets buyers see them. Tikit removes them when the organiser deletes their account.
Changes and availability
Tikit may change or withdraw features. It will not remove a ticket you have already bought. These terms may change; the date at the top moves when they do.
