Fees and payouts

Your first event is free

Tikit charges nothing on the first event you publish. No percentage, nothing per ticket, whichever way you set Who pays the Tikit fee. Buyers pay exactly the prices you set and you keep all of it.

It is spent when you publish, not when you create a draft, so you can set up as many drafts as you like first. It applies to one event, for the life of that event, and every event after it is charged normally.

The fee

3.5% + R2 per paid ticket. Free tickets cost nothing. There are no monthly fees, no setup fees, and no fee on refunds beyond keeping the original fee.

On a R100 ticket the fee is R5.50. On a R500 ticket it is R19.50.

When a buyer uses one of your promo codes, the fee is worked out on the discounted price. A R100 ticket with 20% off is R80, so the fee is R4.80. A ticket discounted to nothing is a free ticket and carries no fee.

Who pays it

You choose per event, under Who pays the Tikit fee when you create or edit the event:

• The buyer, on top of the ticket price. A R100 ticket costs the buyer R105.50 and you receive R100. This is the default.
• Me, out of the ticket price. The buyer pays R100 and you receive R94.50.

Either way the fee is shown to the buyer on its own line before they pay.

Refunds

A refund returns the ticket's face value to the buyer. The Tikit fee on that sale stays payable, so with buyer pays the buyer gets everything except the fee back, and with me you carry the fee on a refunded order. Cancelling an event refunds every paid order automatically and emails every buyer.

When you get paid

Every event has a payout schedule on its Payouts tab, and Payouts in the sidebar shows all of them plus a ledger of every rand in and out. Which schedule you get depends on your tier:

Where the money goes

Add your bank details under Organiser profile. Once the account is verified, payouts go out automatically and you get an email each time one is sent or fails. Until then, Tikit pays by EFT and marks the payout paid by hand.
