Verification and payout tiers

Under South African consumer law, if an event is cancelled every buyer is entitled to a refund. If Tikit has already paid you an advance, that money has to come back. Verification is how Tikit knows it can, which is what lets it pay you early.

Everything below is under Verification in the sidebar. Each step is optional. Together they move you from Tier 1 to Tier 2; five completed events on Tier 2 moves you to Tier 3. The schedules are on Fees and payouts.

Which partners are connected is up to whoever runs this Tikit. Until a partner is connected, a check runs against Tikit's own stand-in, which accepts well-formed details rather than checking them with anyone. Every result says who handled it: "via mock" means the stand-in. The Verification page tells you when that is the case.

Company registration

Companies, close corporations and non-profits only. Enter your CIPC registration number. With a company-registry partner connected, Tikit looks the company up and checks it is active; until then the stand-in accepts any well-formed number. Individuals skip this step.

Director ID

The South African ID number of the person signing for the organiser (or your own, if you're an individual). With an identity partner connected it is checked against Home Affairs records; until then the stand-in checks only that the number is well formed. The full number goes to the partner the moment you submit and is never written down; Tikit keeps only the last four digits and the answer.

Bank account verification

Confirms the account under Organiser profile → Bank details is open, accepts payments, and belongs to the account holder you named. Changing your bank details resets this.

DebiCheck mandate

A debit-order mandate. With a DebiCheck partner connected, your bank asks you to authenticate it; until then the stand-in records it as authenticated. Tikit uses it for one thing: recovering an advance if you cancel an event after being paid. It is never used otherwise. Requires a verified bank account.

Deed of surety

Where the organiser is a company, the director signing stands personally surety for refunds owed to buyers. Individuals sign it as themselves. Type your full name to sign; the clause is in the organiser agreement.

Results

Each check shows checking, passed or didn't pass, and you get an email either way. Something the partner got wrong can be reviewed by Tikit; write to the contact address on the privacy page.
